Glass bottles. Not much to them, right? All our vinegar comes in glass bottles, classic Coca-Cola came in glass bottles, and even our perfumes, colognes, and aftershaves come in them. We’re experts in using them, so there’s no need to check ourselves when ordering from glass bottle suppliers, right? Unfortunately, there are thousands of people who have had to clean up hundreds of thousands of broken glass bottles because of that same assumption, and we’re here to keep you from becoming a part of the statistic with these seven checks to ask about when buying glass bottles.
Liquor bottles can be dangerous when assumptions are made
Here are seven checks you should do when buying:
1. Cap for Liquor
This may not be a commonly known fact, but when you buy a glass container it should come with the appropriate top for it as well. All glass containers (as long as they are not made custom and to extreme proportions) will come with tops and lids included with the package. If your glass bottle supplier isn’t providing you with lids, you should look for another supplier.
Different bottles have different lids. A good lid, like a bottle, will improve the quality of the product. Different bottle mouths correspond to different lids. Although some lids look no different, even if the error is 0.5mm, it will still affect the air tightness of the bottle, so as to shorten the shelf life of the product and affect the quality of the product.
(More than 500 kinds of lids are available for you to choose from. Click here to contact us, we will provide you with professional solutions and free samples.)
2. Top
There are two basic measurements that you need to take into consideration when measuring the neck opening of your glass bottle: neck diameter and neck finish.
Neck Diameter:While there are many technical dimensions an engineer will define while designing a bottle, the neck diameter of a glass bottle can be found by taking the measurement across the top opening of the container from the outside of the threads. To get the best and most accurate measurement, we recommend using our neck measurement tool, which you can print, cut out, and use to find accurate neck diameters.
Neck Finish (Neck Height):The neck finish, sometimes called neck height, is the thread style for a bottle or cap; there are several common finishes.
- 1 thread turn is a 400
- 1.5 thread turn is a 410
- 2 thread turns is a 415
If you are unsure of the neck diameter or neck finish that would be best suited for your application or need assistance matching closures with bottles or jars, contact our team at Packaging Options Direct to assist you today!
3. Bottom
As a buyer, it’s your right to ask about the process used to make the glass containers. You can also inquire about the materials of the product to make sure it was made in a humane working environment with environmentally friendly regulations. It’s your bottle and you have a right to know it from top to bottom.
Most wine bottles have a groove at the bottom. The function of the groove is to make people hold the wine bottle more stable, make the wine bottle more stable, facilitate sedimentation, facilitate stacking, and enhance the pressure resistance. For bottles with different purposes, the bottom of the bottle can be designed in a variety of styles.

4.Shape
Many glass bottle suppliers offer you customization options. If you’re looking for a special bottle for a special occasion, bring it up with an associate and they should be able to point you in the direction of someone who can help you, if not accommodate you themselves.
There are great differences in the material, cost and appearance design of bottles for different purposes. For example, red wine bottles need to consider shading, beer bottles need to consider pressure, liqueur needs good light transmittance to make the product look transparent, and so on. We have 17 years of experience in the glass products industry. We have 1500 + free samples of shapes and styles for your reference. We can also provide customized one-stop service to save your valuable time.
Glass Bottle Shape: Shape is almost directly correlated with aesthetics and personal preference, although there are some common shapes associated with specific contents. You wouldn’t store pickles in a long neck liquor bottle or put perfume in a 3-gallon carboy. Not sure which shape is best for your product? 5. Color
Glass Bottle Color:Color can play an important role in the selection of your glass bottle, and it’s not only about good looks. For example, many brewers and restaurants prefer amber colored glass bottles because they are very successful at blocking out ultraviolet radiation, which can damage sensitive products like beer. Similarly, essential oils are generally packaged in amber or cobalt blue bottles for the same reason.
Amber: This is a brown color glass that offers excellent protection from ultraviolet radiation. This is critical for products such as beer and certain drugs.
Cobalt: This is a blue colored class that is the result of copper or cobalt being added to the liquid molten mixture.
Green: Green glass is achieved as a result of oxidized iron chromate being added to the liquid molten mixture.
Frosted Glass: Frosted glass can be achieved when any color glass is treated, giving the glass a frosted-look or coating.
Flint Glass: Flint glass is clear and colorless.
6. Quantity
At Packaging Options Direct, we do not have a minimum order; you can order as few or as many glass bottles as you need. However, the more bottles you order, the better price break we can give you. Some of our bottles are sold as individual pieces and some are sold via case. We also ship our containers using a reshipper carton, which can be reused to ship your containers once you’ve filled them. We believe this provides an unmatched added value to our customers. The number of bottles in a case fluctuates depending on the size of the bottle you’re ordering. You can find the number of pieces per case listed below the quantity and pricing descriptions of each bottle.
7. Weight
We are a factory. We have dozens of engineers and hundreds of workers. Our price is not the lowest in the market, but our price is the most reassuring to you.
Reducing product weight is an important measure to reduce cost, but it will affect the quality of products. It is often reported in the news that the explosion of beer bottles leads to personnel injury. This situation is caused by arbitrarily reducing weight and blindly pursuing low price. During the 17 years of operation, we have never had any major after-sales problems. We will recommend appropriate weight and matching materials according to your needs, without cutting corners.
8. Height
Glass Bottle Size:The size of your glass bottle is almost always determined by the amount of the contents you will be filling the bottle with. Always ensure you have double and triple checked your measurements. To help, you can use our Conversion Tool for measurement conversions. You’ll want to compare these measurements with the “Capacity” and “Overflow Capacity” measurements of the bottle you select. Capacity is the amount of space inside a container for a given amount of product. The normal volume (usually measured in ccs, mls, ounces, or grams) of a bottle, published in standard sizes used by industry. When a bottle is filled to standard capacity, the contents usually fill it up to its shoulder area. Overflow capacity, on the other hand, is the maximum capacity of the container to the top of the finish if it was filled to the very top.
The appropriate height can make your product just fill the container, so as to maximize the saving of high freight.
9. Packaging
The packing method is up to you. We can also provide you with some packing schemes, such as the packing scheme with the lowest unit price; The most convenient scheme for loading and unloading, etc.
10. Shipping
Shipping, air transportation, railway, express delivery, it’s up to you.
We have chartered flights for customers and transported them to Europe and other countries by train. We have rich transportation experience.
11. Price
Nowadays, the international situation is changing rapidly, and the prices of exchange rate, gold and oil are also complex. You may have experienced price increases before delivery or the bankruptcy of suppliers. We have better ways to avoid these situations. The first is to shorten the delivery time as much as possible, and the second is to agree on the price, which is subject to the contract price; Finally, if we really encounter huge factors affecting the price, we agree on some conditions for price change. If we fail to meet this condition, the price will remain unchanged.
12. After Sales Services
If there is no problem with the above key points, then it comes to the last step, after-sales. The quality of large goods will be slightly lower than that of samples, which will occur in all industries. Improving product quality and yield will greatly reduce after-sales problems, but there will still be many problems, such as damage on the road; The bottle and lid are not matched; High charges at the port of destination. At this time, good after-sales service is very important. We will not shirk our responsibility, but will also issue specific plans for you to choose, saving your time and energy.
The greatest problem with buying glass bottles is that we all know so much about glass bottles already that we forget that there are things we don’t know. This can lead us to making assumptions about what the glass bottle can and cannot be used for, and those assumptions usually lead to broken glass and wasted money. Just check your bases when buying glass bottles and you’ll be okay.
